WHO WE ARE

Bluffton Christian School (BCS) is a non-denominational evangelical Christian institution located in Bluffton, Indiana.  We currently have students attending from Wells County and surrounding counties.  BCS is registered with the Indiana Department of Education as a non-public school and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

We provide a Christian based curriculum.  Core subjects of English, History, Mathematics, and Science are taught to students in all grades.  Elective choices include Spanish, Biology, Choir, Health, Computer, and Career Planning.  Students have a Bible class every year and a Biblical world view is taught.  Each morning begins with a devotional, prayer, pledges, and announcements.  Special chapel services are presented monthly.  Student vocal and band concerts are presented twice a year.

BCS admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.  We currently provide education for students in grades 6-12.

Our Mission

Bluffton Christian School is dedicated to providing a Christian-based, academically strong, educational environment.  The truths of God's Word, the Bible, are the foundation of our faith and serve as the basis for all learning activities.  We endeavor to work closely with the home and the church of each of our students in providing a well-rounded Christian eduction that will provide guidance to our students throughout their entire lives.

Our History

Community Christian School began in 1995 with 48 students and was a growing institution until the economic downturn hit the area hard.  Enrollment declined and financial considerations put the administration in a difficult situation.

In 2007 Covenant Chapel, located south of Bluffton, offered to assume management off the school.  Covenant was located in a former school building, so Community Christian moved there and was renamed Covenant Christian.  The school continued at that site for two years, but enrollment continued to decline.  Covenant Chapel made the difficult decision not to reopen the school for the 2009-2010 school year.

Most of the students registered for 2009-2010 were in the middle school and high school age range and the staff teaching those students felt a real burden to continue the school.  The former building had been sold and the new owners offered the teachers the opportunity to use some of those classrooms, so, after prayerful consideration by the staff, students, and parents, Bluffton Christian School was born.

Many sacrifices were made and difficulties encountered, but BCS finished its first year with a graduation ceremony for the lone senior.  For the first time in four years all bills were paid in a timely manner.  The board and staff felt this was a definite direction from the Lord that the school was to continue.
